Doom & Glitter
Crazy Coqs Cabaret, W1F 7ED , [Venue Details]The Black Cat Presents a tribute to the tarnished golden age of Berlin cabarets, where vile bodies moved through a haze of smoke, drinking and dancing in scintillating splendour, while outside the shadows gathered.
Friedrich Hollander and Mischa Spoliansky were the brilliant composers who captured the spirit of the age in songs of longing and liberation, illusion and delusion, from 'Falling In Love Again' to 'I Am A Vamp' and dozens more. Celebrations of a Zeitgeist that seems all-too-relevant today.
Cabaret legend Dusty Limits (host of The Black Cat Cabaret: Salon des Artistes) and their collaborator Steve Edis deliver a selection of these songs, including fresh translations and new interpretations, and an unhealthy dose of shaded glamour.
Praise for Dusty Limits:
'Consummate wit and assured audience rapport.' Time Out
'One of the foremost practitioners of the art of cabaret.' The Scotsman
'Fantastic, like a dark, louche angel.' Martyn Jacques The Tiger Lillies
